Message From The Past President
September 8, 2008
Ladies and Gentlemen,
We are now into early September and I’d like to update you on some information regarding the Western Regional Chapter. As of today, 9/8/08 we have 819 current IAATI WRC members, with 347 of them signed up for the "Members Only" section.
IAATI WRC 1st VP Rick Greenwood has been successful in obtaining most of the rosters of independent associations within the IAATI WRC geographical jurisdiction. He has compiled them all into one password encrypted roster and you will find a link to the roster if you look at Site Content, just to the right of this message. Click on WRC Contact Roster and it will take you to the information about obtaining the roster. The roster is password encrypted. Rick has already shared the password with the Presidents of the associations who have contributed to the roster. It will be up to the Presidents of the associations to disseminate the password to their own membership, thus controlling who within their own associations have access to the roster. Participating associations at this time are AATIA (Arizona), AATIA (Alberta), BCAATI (British Columbia), CATI (Colorado), WSATI Central California, WSATI Hawaii, WSATI Northern California, WSATI Northwest (Washington), and WSATI Southern California. If you are a member of an association within the IAATI WRC geographical jurisdiction not mentioned above, and you would like to have your association listed in the IAATI WRC Contact Roster, please contact Rick Greenwood at rgreenwood@wrciaati.org.
I recently spoke with IAATI WRC 3rd VP Jim Kautz. Jim is working with other members of CATI to bring the 2009 IAATI Training Seminar to the Denver, Colorado area. Jim said they submitted the information to IAATI Seminar Committee Chairman Kent Mawyer. IAATI will soon make the announcement on their website and Jim will start putting out flyers and information about the 2009 Training Seminar. Jim and the on-site committee are already making preparations for companion programs, side trips, and sporting events. Jim said there will be plenty to do as he found out from the chamber of commerce that the Denver area is the #4 most sought out convention location in the United States. If you have any ideas or comments, please contact Jim Kautz at jkautz@wrciaati.org.
For a complete listing of the Western Regional Chapter Executive Board, Directors, and Advisors, please go to the IAATI WRC Officers link at http://www.wrciaati.org/officers.asp. We still have several Director positions open. Please take a look at the Officers page to see if there is a Director opening in your area. If you have a desire to become a Director, please contact the Executive Board at eboard@wrciaati.org.
There are three training opportunities in the Western Region this month, starting with the 35th Annual Rocky Mountain Vehicle Crimes Training Seminar in Colorado Springs, hosted by CATI. This will be taking place September 16-18, 2008. For more information go to http://www.wsati.org/08_CATI_registration.doc.
The next opportunity will be the WSATI Oregon Trail Chapter 2-Day Auto Theft Class in Salem, Oregon on September 18-19, 2008. For more information go to http://www.wsati.org/2008_Salem_Seminar.doc.
The last opportunity will be the WSATI 2008 - 37th Annual Training Seminar in Monterey hosted by the WSATI Central Chapter. This will be taking place on September 28-October 1, 2008. For more information go to http://www.wsati.org/2008conference.html. The IAATI WRC General Meeting / Elections will be held at this Seminar on September 29, 2008. Both the Lee S. Cole "Officer of the Year" Award and the Gerald "Jerry" Boyer Memorial Award will be presented during the Seminar.
Please try to attend some training in your area. This is the only way we can try to keep up with or get ahead of the auto thieves.
In closing, I just wish to say it is important that we continue to communicate with one another. If you have not signed up for the “Member’s Only” section of IAATI, please think about doing so. It allows IAATI and IAATI WRC to send you email messages, including the IAATI e-news, important membership announcements, and “news items” of importance to the membership. We want to continue pushing forward in the Western Regional Chapter. If any of you have any ideas or suggestions, please contact the Executive Board at eboard@wrciaati.org.
Sincerely,
Gary Labb
